Winter River II Artist Statement
There is no greater artist than He who created the heavens and the earth. I am in constant awe of the natural beauty that surrounds us and I enjoy capturing this beauty in my own, unique way.
Winter River II is part of a series of works painted in 2020. This wooded winter scene, captured just after freshly fallen snow, depicts the colors of a sunset dancing through the trees. People often feel that Ohio winters are gray and dirty, but if you but if you truly look, there is beauty to behold.

Brilliant Monarch Artist Statement
As a child my mother, brothers and I would raise Monarch Butterflies. We would hunt the milkweed patch to find the butterfly eggs, watch them hatch to caterpillar, feed and care for them util they became a chrysalis and transformed to a brilliant butterfly. It is one of my most favorite childhood memories. Today, I continue this tradition with my children and my grandchild.
Made to stand out, the Monarch's brilliant color warns of great danger, as they are poisonous if eaten by prey. Despite this warning and protection, the Monarch has been on the decline.
Due to the disappearance of the Milkweed plant, the only location Monarchs will lay their eggs and the only food source for caterpillars, the Monarch species, along with other great pollinators, have greatly diminished.. There are many conservation efforts underway in Ohio and across the nation to revive this population and many easy ways for you to play a part. Visit the monarchjointventure.org for more information.
